Group Class Policy

Dear Students (Estrellas y Flamencas)

During the summer we have been most flexible with payments.  Please note: Group class tuition will be $75 starting in September. Some of you were already used to this rate. The $75 covers 4 classes for the month. If you cannot commit to the 4 classes due to vacation days or other reasons. You must pay the drop in rate of $20 per class. Make up classes will not be provided, this is in order to cover the fees in order to have the class open. Please consult with me regarding spending extra time in another class I may offer as a way to make up the time.  Payments for the upcoming month are due prior to the beginning of the month. Please understand, we just need to tighten the administrative process in order to keep classes open.

Thank you for your attention towards this matter,
Marsha

Torpedo Factory Performance Feedback

** Hi Ladies, listed below are comments submitted by each of you unless you did not turn in an evaluation, (a couple of you did not!) I submitted the gist of what you all submitted. It is great for you to thoroughly read what your teammates expressed about the performance. Each of you can work on these following items. Remember, this is positive criticism. The point of this exercise was to evaluate how you thought you performed versus your actual performance recorded. Thank you all for your effort in submitting these comments.
Marsha
My feelings BEFORE watching:
1. I was in the MOOD to perform well.
2. I felt that I was in character as soon as we walked through the doors and that I looked in character.
Positive: I felt that my posture and attitude at the beginning was a good beginning.Flamenco: Good confident feeling & Attitude
Good Rhythm

Impovement:

  1. Staccato steps to mark the rhythm. (It is not a smooth dance ☺)
  2. Need to listen to music ( multiple times) for specific cues.
  3. Be positve, and enjoy the dance with “BOOBS – 44D”.
AFTER watching I felt:
1. My fan was STRAIGHT in front of my face
2. When walking out during the ‘finale’ I need to IMMEDIATELY put the fan down and close it!
3. In exiting, I/we need to keep our hands on our hips and stay in character.
4. I felt fear in the beginning and I need to work on concentrating more
5. More fan movement
I do not lift my leg high enough when doing the taconeo
                     2. Floreo sometimes seems mindless rather than a
controlled movement. 3. I still lack the confidence to project a
fearless, in-control movement, there are times when I look almost timid.
While doing Sevillanas: need more defined,
sharp braceo, more angling of the body, and have to avoid facing the
audience dead-center.
Skirt movement needs to be more circular and
wider
3. Petit Batteeant: More rise and fall is
needed
4. Correct the problem with being too early
after the desplante, shoulder roll and ronde.
For Flamenco: More pronounced arch in my upper body in the beginning
Bigger foot action-specifically in Fandangos
Correct alignment for "V" formation

Heel work sound was not loud

Concentration within Escobia was not there due to getting lost within the “noise” by teammates.

Escobia was rushed and I felt I needed to catch up.

Lift my elbows up while clapping.
Positive & Improvements for the Estrellas TEAM dancing:

1. When we started the walking forward: 1,2,stomp, 1, 2, stomp, etc., we are ALL in unison for the first 2 steps and stomp. We should be able to hear all of us stomp at the same time!!!

What we need to do:

1. ENJOY WHAT WE ARE DOING and have fun but always look UP and stay in character. Don’t look like we are in PAIN.

2. STAY in character until we are back in the dressing room! When we finish the bow, we should pull up our skirts on the sides and place our hands on our hips and sashay out.

* Work on timing all together

* More attitude

*the team needs to hit the marks at the same time (timing)

*Keeping attitude throughout even after leaving the stage

*Facial expressions should match movements, not blank looks

*Confidence needed in partner work

*More hip action and shoulder action

*Skirts needs more movement/lift

Team Eval

  1. More exaggerated full skirt movement with consistent technique for everyone.
  2. Great for 1st attempt. I feel that everyone learned from the performance video.

The FLAMENCO Team:

1. I was impressed how nicely their legs were in unison when they danced (most of the time).

2. When the girls changed direction in the middle and 2 of them clap, was this ‘free style’ or were they all supposed to clap in rhythm? The clapping could be more effective if it is louder and more ‘exact’. It was a nice effect but could have been “bigger”.

Flamenco was great. It seemed that they were coordinated to the “Unpracticed Eye.” I found watching their definite movements helpful to my efforts to improve. Flamenco Team needs to work on:

the ending

clarity

slow down, tempo was too fast at the end

make movements more solid and bigger!
