Armstyling Exercises (Cha Cha & Rumba)
Traveling Cha Cha Sequence (locks & rocks)
Start with R foot in front
Rock step Back w/R (counts 2,3)
lock step 1 (cha cha 1) R in front, 1/2 turn to L
lock step Back cha cha 2 w/L, 1/2 turn to R
lock step cha cha 3 w/R, 1/2 turn to L
lock step Back cha cha 4 w/L, 1/2 turn to R
lock step cha cha 5 w/R, 1/2 turn to L
Rock step back with L
Start sequence again with opposite feet from directions above
Note: you will know which direction to turn because when you have your weight transferred properly and you know that you are traveling forward you should be able to do 1/2 comfortable. Remember to keep moving forward. If you turn in the “wrong” direction (within this exercise) you will retrogress.
Rumba Sequence
Box Step (1 Bar) 1 Q,Q 2,Q,Q Arms with direction of movement
Start W/R going back on 1,2 (Slow) 3, Q,Q
Crossbody Lead
1st half of box turning 1/8 turn to L 4,Q, Q (Left arm up)
finish turn 1/8 for walks forward completing a total of ¼ turn
Forward Walk Turning, side together 5,Q, Q (R arm through, L still up)
1 bar rumba walks 6,Q, Q (free arm with tone, not “dead” arm)
Forward w/R 7
½ turn to R (back to front)
Walks forward Q, Q
Forward w/L (½ box) 8, Q, Q
