The ladies worked on rumba walks. Concentrating on timing of the feet, hip action for a beautiful skirt effect. We discussed the ideas of 3 planes of space. 2 planes were previously discussed. We talked about a concept in movement. Effort.

There are 8 basic movements of effort (according to Laban-”father of movement notation”)

1. Slashing
2. Dabbing
3. Gliding
4. Flicking
5. Pressing
6. Floating
7. Punching
8. Wringing
In our next session be prepared to show examples of each!

Finally we worked on Carmen from (Singer’s Entrance) working on timing in feet, precision in half turn, and arm action for the fans! We will start the next class with high intensity workout. Please don’t be late. If you are early you are on time. If you are on time you are late.
