*The pricing structure will change slightly to suite the classes. Note: we used to be on a 40 minute session schedule, but in order to accomodate the arms and castanets class we will go to this schedule for the remainder of the year! Every class will be more focused on certain priorities meaning I will not cover braceo/armwork in the flamenco classes. Everyone should plan on taking the arms & torso class with castanets to get this material, plus you will learn how to play an accompanying instrument!
Arm Styling Class changes to Tuesday nights starting October 7th, 2008 9PM-Lioudmilas Dance Studio
October 18th, 2008: 8 year Anniversary party at Lioudmilas Dance Studio:
Dance team will perform Vogue and if there are a couple of you that want to dance Sevillanas, Please let me know!

Flamenco I: We reviewed coplas I & II. We worked on the arms for the 1st. We spent a considerable amount of time on the final turn. The preparation and the turn itself.
Within the 2nd copla we reviewed the footwork portion learning how to keep the body quiet, but allowing the feet to work “under” the body and maintain the rhythm.
Flamenco II: We started with jathis. Keep up the good work. Everyone seems to be more focused about them. We then worked on the bulerias portion.
This Sunday there will be a precise choreography for the bulerias. It’s up to you all to make the notes & remember the sequence now that you have the “pieces”.
We worked on palmas and split into 2 groups of 1 dance group and 1 palmas group. Remember to do palmas to a piece of music as a warm up into the dancing portion of your practice.
This Sunday we will work on the ending of the falseta portion of the Alegrias, then go into Silencio & Castellanas portion! Lots to do, but it’s fun!
See you all on Sunday,
M

First we did 3 breathing types in place without movement-next week we will incorporate cuban rocks with arms & breathing.
We had a small group and we reviewed the Rumba 2 bar sequence with basic arms. We “translated” it to cha cha
Hint: Replace slows to cha cha lock steps
We did salsa basic step into Under Arm Turn for lady to the Right. We added a little twist with hips and setup to create a funkier and more powerful turn.
We did the chaine turns that would be applicable to smooth. We concentrate on the direction and direction change. Think half turns
We concluded the class with 6 arm positions in our adagio work. The low 3rd positon arm appeared in our smooth turns!
Happy Practicing!
Next week we will review those items and try to hit the alemana as well.
NOTE!!!: Arm styling will change to a new night (Tuesdays) in October!! Starting Tuesday October 7th!
